How They Fit In:

There are many ways to think about the significance of songs and the way they fit together–-this is simply one way you can look at these songs in light of this week’s theme. 

Rescue Is Coming: We sang this song to begin our time together proclaiming the hope that God is actively working to redeem the cosmos.

Waking Life: This song is about God’s transforming presence in our lives, setting fires in us for justice and opening our hearts to love our neighbors.

Mother: This song celebrates God as Mother, embracing us with a love beyond our understanding.

There: We sang this song to proclaim God as an anchor beyond our struggles, drawing us toward Godself.

Chasing the Wind: This song offers a piercing word of hope through the layers of noise we pile upon ourselves to feel whole and complete.

Come Alive: This song is about God drawing us into God’s dance of love, gradually bringing us to life.

Doxology: We close our time together each week with this proclamation that God is worthy of praise from every inch of the cosmos.

How They Fit In:

There are many ways to think about the significance of songs and the way they fit together–-this is simply one way you can look at these songs in light of this week’s theme. 

In the Night: This song traces the thread of God’s presence within struggle throughout the biblical narrative, and invites us to step into the lineage of hope-in-despair.

O Love That Will Not Let Me Go: We sang this song as an anchor in the midst of Lent, reminding ourselves that the Living God clings to us despite our shaky discipleship.

There: This song is an anchor of a different kind, reminding us that, while God is present in our suffering, God also stands above and beyond it.

Mother: This is a song about God as Mother, offering comfort and wisdom in the midst of growth and suffering.

Be Thou My Vision: This song will accompany us through Lent, reminding us to turn to God for our vision, wisdom, and security.

How They Fit In:

There are many ways to think about the significance of songs and the way they fit together–-this is simply one way you can look at these songs in light of this week’s theme. 

Mystery: We sang this song to proclaim the death, resurrection, and return of Christ, and to embrace the story that this Event imposes on our reality.

Wayward Ones: This is our communion hymn, and it contemplates Christ's self-giving love that is displayed and remembered in the eucharist.

Up On A Mountain: This song reminds us that Jesus entered fully into our suffering and occupies the space of our pain through the Spirit even now.

Mother: This song makes use of maternal images to think of the ways that God cares for and protects us.

All Creatures of Our God and King: We sang this song to look over our shoulder at last week’s songs. This is what we said about All Creatures then: We sang this song to join our voices to the whole of creation in acknowledging the grandeur of the Creator.

Doxology: We close our time together each week with this proclamation that God is worthy of praise from every inch of the cosmos.

How They Fit In:

There are many ways to think about the significance of songs and the way they fit together–-this is simply one way you can look at these songs in light of this week’s theme. 

How Great Thou Art: This song offered us language to begin our time together by proclaiming the grandeur of God through observing what God has made and what God has done in the world.

Hope: This song looks at the mini-Resurrections that God has spread across creation in order to look ahead to the re-Creation of all things.

There: This song is a proclamation of God's being set apart from every source of anxiety, and offers us an Anchor to still ourselves in the turmoil of the world at the moment.

Mother: This song was born out of a desire to enter into the tradition found threaded through Deuteronomy, Hosea, Isaiah, and Jesus, of using maternal metaphors to speak of God.  Put differently, it uses the lens of motherhood as a way to speak of the way that God cares for and loves us.

Future/Past: We sang this song to look over our shoulder at last week's songs.  This is what we said about Future/Past then: We sang this song to celebrate the self-giving love that God invites us into.

Doxology: We close our time together each week with this proclamation that God is worthy of praise from every inch of the cosmos.
